The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) represents 73 000 members teaching and working in public elementary schools in Ontario.
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario – Waterloo Region Teacher Local represents approximately 2 500 members teaching and working in 100 public elementary schools in Waterloo Region.
ETFO Priorities
- To protect the collective bargaining rights of all members
- To defend publicly funded public education
- To serve the needs of the membership
- To provide for the professional development of members
- To promote social justice in the areas of anti-poverty, non-violence, and equity
- To support international assistance and co-operation
- To promote the protection and care of the environment
- To promote and protect the health and safety of members
ETFO is a grassroots organization. The membership directs the Federation through local Representative Councils, Provincial Representative Councils, the ETFO Annual Meeting, and numerous committees at both the local and provincial level.
Community Involvement
Locally, ETFO-WRTL continues to be involved in the community. Our local Federation and our members support and participate in a variety of community organizations and efforts, including Habitat For Humanity, Anselma House/Haven House, The Waterloo Region Food Bank, the Lifetime of Reading Program, the Waterloo Region Labour Council, the United Way, as well as many others.
